Going from Locally Competitive to Globally Competitive

Going from locally competitive to globally competitive requires the combined effort of more than a single business, family or individual.  It requires the combined effort of these three groups along with help from federal, state and local governments.  The reason for this is that getting globally competitive means addressing all variable and fixed costs including but not limited to:

    1.    Inventory

    2.    Labor
    3.    Leases and loans
    4.    Taxes

When these items are attacked, their quantity, type, processes and policies must all be addressed.  This is the main reason we talk about the issue of global competitiveness and never act.  Our current economic problems are forcing us to look closer at the issues; however, most are still in the blame everyone but me mode and must convert to the lets work together mode.  The lets work together mode is, in fact, the only way for our economy and our country to survive and thrive far into the future.
